Read the scripture passage, pray for John and Viviannah, and reflect on the story on your own or with a group.
PRAYER
READ AND PRAY OVER: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, NIV
DISCUSSION
- John and Viviannah wouldn’t have been able to heal without the gift of water, for life, in Jesus’ name. Their farm now allows them to support their family and send their kids to school.
- Consider the ways in which safe water access impacts local economies: tending to agriculture for small-scale businesses, alleviating financial burdens for medications and hospital bills due to water-borne illnesses, or eliminating the need for families to purchase bottled or filtered water sold at inflated prices. Can you think of any other areas of impact?
- Scripture tells us that there’s a time for everything in life…for planting and for harvesting, for laughing and for mourning.
- Reflect on the seasons in your own life when there has been “a time” for some of the things that Ecclesiastes 3 mentions. How did God remain faithful in each season? What testimony do you have today because you experienced them?
