About Uganda
Welcome to Uganda, a captivating landlocked country nestled in East Africa. Hosting around 46 million people, the country speaks English and Swahili as its official languages. The equator itself runs through this remarkable nation, further enhancing its unique appeal. Lakes such as Victoria, Kyoga, Albert, Edward, and George dot the land, enriching its natural splendor. Christianity flourishes here, with over 84 percent of the population adhering to this faith, making it a country of religious diversity.

Our work
Living Water Uganda is a dedicated NGO committed to the long-term development of Uganda’s physical and spiritual well-being. Our journey began in 2010, focusing on bringing safe water sources to primary schools in Ruhaama County. Since then, our “Water for Schools” program has thrived, building 80 water points in Ruhaama County alone. We’ve expanded our reach, launching Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs in various districts, partnering with communities for holistic transformation. Our approach fosters lasting relationships, provides high-level water access, empowers communities, integrates Christian principles, and promotes sustainable solutions. With expertise in various fields and strong partnerships, we stand as pioneers of community transformation.

Living Water International Uganda is your source for safe water access solutions. Our endeavors encompass new well establishments, rehabilitations, and innovative water systems. Utilizing advanced drilling technology, we’ve significantly cut costs while adhering to rigorous quality standards. Collaborating with district water offices, we rehabilitate non-functional boreholes, enhancing water access across communities. Beyond installation, our focus extends to operations and maintenance. We empower communities to manage their water systems financially, ensuring sustainability through community-driven solutions. Through market-based approaches, we’ve enabled rural growth centers to maintain piped water systems, fostering sustainability in challenging areas.
At Living Water Uganda, we believe in cultivating healthy habits for improved hygiene and sanitation. Our community-level trainings empower individuals to take ownership of their well-being. Employing approaches like Community-Led Total Sanitation and Child Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation, we inspire collective action against open defecation. Follow-up visits monitor behavioral change, while sanitation marketing and community savings initiatives further sustain sanitation improvements. Our goal is to create Open Defecation Free communities while promoting household-level pit latrine construction through hygiene awareness.
In the name of Jesus, we embark on a spiritual journey alongside our WASH initiatives. Living Water Uganda empowers local churches to lead community WASH efforts. Through workshops, churches are equipped to train water user committees and share the gospel through Bible storytelling. This holistic approach not only provides safe water but also nurtures spiritual growth and community resilience. By engaging churches and communities, we’ve succeeded in mobilizing people for WASH improvements and spreading the message of faith and hope.
At Living Water Uganda, our mission is deeply intertwined with faith and gospel proclamation. By empowering churches, we create a ripple effect that extends beyond water access. Our churches are equipped to share the gospel while fostering sustainable water projects. Through contextual Bible storying, we strengthen communities and promote discipleship. As churches lead in community mobilization, gospel sharing, and WASH initiatives, they become beacons of integral mission, radiating faith and transforming lives.
