Luis pastors a local church in a small community in the Dominican Republic. His community has lacked safe water for as long as he can remember—waterborne diseases, lost loved ones, and limited opportunities are just part of daily life.
Pastor Luis believes God’s vision for the Church goes beyond the pulpit. He knows that, as Christians, we’re called to live out an integral mission: one where loving our neighbor means caring for their spiritual and physical needs.
Yet the problems are many, the resources are few, and he’s not sure where to begin.
That’s why we created a resource for Pastor Luis and every other local leader looking to help their community flourish. The Flourish model is our guide for equipping the local church to lead lasting change through safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and the gospel. But what does this process actually look like?

Pastor Luis pastors a local church, loves his neighbors, and has a vision for his community to flourish.
This is Living Water
Living Water is planning a new WASH Program Area (WPA) in the region where Pastor Luis lives.
Pastor Luis meets Living Water
Luis begins a friendship with Living Water and shares ideas about his church and community. Living Water invites Luis to a Flourish Cohort.
Stage 1: Envisioning the Church for Integral Mission
Luis and other pastors develop a Shared WASH Vision and commitment to the overlooked and excluded.
Stage 2: Church and Community Planning
Pastors and community leaders develop a WASH Action Plan for spiritual, physical, and social flourishing.
Stage 3: Church and Community Action
Luis and other church and community leaders partner with Living Water to implement WASH Services.
Stage 4: Reflection and Celebration
Luis and his community throw a party, worship, and share Lessons Learned with other communities.
And so, the next community’s journey to flourishing begins.
