Featured speakers: Barak Bruerd & Stephen Okiror

Barak Bruerd is Living Water International’s Senior Vice President of Programs. Barak’s childhood as a missionary kid, spanning multiple rural communities across 3 continents, has granted him a unique perspective on community development and a passion for empowering communities to pursue their vision for change. With an MBA and a master’s degree in water resources, Barak has served in 14 countries over the past 20 years across various roles, from implementing field-based programs to leading globally positioned teams. He is a professional photographer who loves adventure and the great outdoors. Barak serves Jesus from Tennessee, where he lives with his wife and three children.

Stephen Okiror is Living Water International’s Deputy Regional Vice President for Africa, bringing over 24 years of experience in international development and humanitarian assistance. He joined Living Water 12 years ago, starting as Program Manager for Uganda’s first WASH Program Area (WPA) before advancing to his current role. Previously, Stephen spent 12 years with various international charities, focusing on humanitarian aid, WASH, education, and public health. He is a devoted follower of Jesus, a deacon at his church, and a dedicated husband and father of four. With a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, postgraduate qualifications in Monitoring and Evaluation, and an MSc in Public Health, Stephen’s commitment to leadership and community service enhances Living Water’s impact across Africa.
