It all started when ... I met a man by the name of Jerry Wiles who works at Living Water International. We were attending a conference together and he began telling me about sharing the Gospel through story telling and also about the Living Water International. For the next several months I could not get the conversation out of my head and I knew without a doubt that the Lord was calling me to go.
It all started when ... I never knew that people in our world were living with dirty water. I've been fortunate enough to have clean water all my life and when my pastor preached a message on giving and the concept of drilling wells, I was totally caught off guard but I knew this is something I had to do. It took me quite a few years to be able to go on a water trip due to personal reasons but I believe God brought me to Leon for such a time as this.
It all started when ... Alex and Ani Charity By Design Team had a management competition to be selected to attend the Living Water Trip. We were tasked with joining a non profit board, organizing a team give back event and donating to a charity. I enjoyed getting to know ... The country's way of living, the in-country staff, the community children and adults. And most importantly getting to know myself and work colleagues forming a bond that will change us forever!
It all started when ... Our Church did the Advent Conspiracy last December. During that time our church raised the money to fund a well in Nicaragua. When it was announced that we would attempt to assemble a team I knew right away that I would want to join. I have been earning a living cleaning water for the past 22 years and I had been thinking about doing something like this for a while. It was the Lord's timing that made it obvious that this was for me.
It all started when ... I went to the kitchen sink for a glass of water one day. It was in December 2014. I felt grateful to only have to walk 8 steps for clean water. I had an evening of then feeling extremely grateful for EVERYTHING I have. By US standards, it isn't much, but by a larger part of world's standards I have much. The next week at church my pastor announced we would partner with LWI to raise the funds to donate a water well in the Rivas community of Nicaragua. I understood fully what my evening's stirrings were all about a few days earlier.
