I Went to El Salvador [El Salvador]

It all started when...

Our church hosted a training day for Water Ambassadors and we went on a trip to Guatemala and half of team was from Living Water. This drill was our fourth trip and we are are addicted!

I enjoyed getting to know...

Norma and Carlos were such a blessing! The staff were all so patient and humble and thankful for our help. We were truly blessed to work as a team alongside this hard working staff. Our team was great with different personalities that all complimented each other. The people in the community were incredible. I can’t get over how the women eagerly wanted to take their turn to feed us when they must be putting out a week’s worth of food for one meal. The men were so hard working - we couldn’t have done it without them! I will forever carry them all in my heart. Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve in a practical way to provide this very basic yet essential need of clean drinking water. We can’t wait to go on another trip next winter!

Things that challenged and changed me...

I am forever changed by having met some of the greatest people on the face of the earth. I am so happy to have served with them and for them and it was so hard to say goodbye. I know that we will see each other again in Heaven!

I will never forget...

Marvin. This 18 year old young man is the oldest of five children and works hard everyday as a farmer without getting paid to help support his family. He doesn't even live in the community that we drilled in but he sacrificed each day by coming and helping with the well. He has to look for water each day and sometimes they come to the small stream (where they also do laundry and clean chickens) and take water back on horse back. He wanted to bring the team some mangoes and asked how many he should bring. Norma told him to bring what was in his heart and he said that in his heart he wanted to bring us the whole tree!
